March 2009 Techno Pulse

I was figuring that it never hurts to wander into an unfamiliar genre once in a while, just to survey what’s going on 🙂

In that vein, I’ve put together a mix of the current top 10 chart topping Techno tracks off Beatport. They are arranged with consideration for artist/bpm/key, sequenced in Ableton (as usual).

Live DJ Mix: “Saturday Afternoon Mix”

We were chillaxing playing Tetris this Saturday afternoon. In between each match I would mix in the next track. Keeping with the trend of experimenting with music theory, the transitions move clockwise along the circle of fifths, skipping 3 slices each time, and switching between minor/Major as much as possible (there are relatively few tracks in Major key, so it’s not always possible). This one really was bliss to create.
